WHY TSIP

Why TSIP — The Spanish Immersion Program

We are the only children's program in the Sacramento area that teaches its classes 100% in Spanish. Not a Spanish class — a Spanish world, for a few hours every morning.

Everything in Spanish

We focus on children learning Spanish in an environment that invites them to explore. When you are a child you learn with songs and games, following routines and pretending — which stimulates the capacity to express and converse. We also promote values and exposure to Hispanic culture, preparing children for the global world we live in.

Why start this early?

The research behind immersion before age six.

The brain is forming itself

From birth to puberty the brain builds networks for language based on what it hears. A second language in that input grows richer networks.

Most active before six

The formatting process is especially active in the first six years and ends around age twelve — early exposure literally grows more connections.

Easier learning after

Those connections make additional learning easier, in both the second language and the first.

Academic gains

Second-language learning correlates with higher standardized test scores, stronger reading, and better performance at college level.

Lifelong protection

Research indicates knowing a second language can reduce the chances of developing dementia, including Alzheimer's.

Confidence and connection

Socio-emotional growth and higher self-esteem — plus a valuable skill for life and work.

Our method

How a language actually reaches a two-year-old.

  1. Play, not drillsSongs, games, pretend play and routines — the way children learn everything at this age.
  2. One theme at a timeEach day and week carries a big idea, so vocabulary arrives in context and sticks.
  3. Culture alongside languageLatin American stories, music, food and celebrations, not just words.
  4. Unique materialsOur own mix of techniques and teaching materials, built for immersion.
